Good quality, Italian-made outer CV joint for Minis equipped with 7.5" or 8.4" disc brakes. The Mini used only two sizes of CV joints in its history, and this is the larger one as found on the Cooper S, and later on 12" wheels cars with 8.4" disc brakes. Also used on MG 1100 and Austin America models. Sold each, includes boot and hardware shown.
Tech Note: During installation of CV joints and disk brakes in our shop, before beginning the work, we routinely check the fit of the hub bearings (wheel bearings) to the CV joint. Normally, the GCV1013 CV joint is used with taper roller bearings. We offer these bearing sets in both original equipment Timken (GHK1140) or aftermarket sets (GHK1140E). Make sure the inner races of the bearings in either set will slide readily down the shaft of the CV joint, and will make full contact with the flat machined shoulder of the joint. The bearing should not require undue force to move it over the full length of the CV joint shaft, and it must contact the shoulder with no gap. If you encounter any problems with this, please contact us for guidance.
