If your classic Mini has no brake lights, the switch is the most likely culprit. The pressure of the brake fluid activates this switch, which screws into a fitting on the front subframe at the right side. This system was used up until 1976, when the switch was moved to the pedal. If your Mini uses this component, you should keep an extra of this part in your spares, so you can keep driving safely and legally. Ref: C16062, SPB400, C16062A, 51600, XBLS7.
