At the 33rd Monterey Historic Automobile Races at Laguna Seca, August 18 - 20, 2006, Cooper was the featured marque. Because of this, for the first time ever, Minis participated at the Monterey Historics. Seven-time SCCA National Champion Doug Peterson drove the Fortech Racing/Seven Enterprises-built Cooper Car Company replica, green number 22.
The Minis practiced on Friday and raced on Sunday in group 3, 1962 - 65 GT Cars. We enjoyed meeting those of you who stopped by the pits and said hello to the Fortech Racing/Seven Enterprises team.
All engine and chassis preparations on the number 22 car were done in-house at Seven Enterprises under the direction of Mike Kearney of Fortech Racing.
Fortech Racing have been preparing arnd racing Minis since 1970. You've seen our GT5 car on the front page of this website, and you can read the history of Fortech on the Fortech page. But, since Cooper is the featured marque, we chose to prepare this vintage race car in Cooper Car Company livery just for this event.
Here are some photos of the car preparation:
